In February 2017, the accused Djembo Paul acting on the account of Mogbwe Godefroy gave two (02) baby elephant ivories to the co-offender Djibril Karibou. The two had a misunderstanding and the former requested the services of his cohort the named Sameloe Dieudonné who dressed as an Ecoguard, proceeded to seize the ivory tusks. He sold it to Souaibou Hamadou. In other related offences, the same accused Djembo Paul carried out a hunting activity in the Forestry Management Unit N° 10003 in the Mikel Village. He killed elephants and gave six (06) ivories and one (01) elephant tail to the very Mogbwe Godefroy who furnished him the hunting gun and ammunitions. Djibril KARIMOU and Souaibou Hamadou pleaded guilty. After establishing their offence reports, they were forwarded together with the seized items before the State Attorney of the Court of First Instance Yokadouma for prosecution.

Djibril Karibou and Souaibou Hamadou was found guilty of illegal detention of trophies of totally protected animal species. Sameloe Dieudonné was found guilty of usurpation of function. Djembo Paul was sentenced to one (1) year fixed imprisonment term and to pay 300.000XAF for fines. The others were sentenced to pay 100.000XAF for fines each. They were all to pay 1.220.000XAF as civil damages to the state of Cameroon through the Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife.
