On the 27 August 2016, elements of the Forestry and Wildlife control post of Gribi were on a wildlife control mission. A saviem car belonging to the transportation agency called Alliance Voyages, leaving for the town of Bertoua was intercepted by the elements for checks. After all the passengers stepped down, the elements begun checking their luggage. While checking they found two (2) bags containing 25 elephant ivories weighing 50kg and 100kg respectively. No passenger claimed ownership of the bags. The elements contacted the head of the luggage department of the agency who denounced the accused persons JOVA YAWEH Christian and IBRAHIM ADAMOU as the owners of the bag. They were identified, and the elements took them to the Gendamerie of Yokadouma for interrogation. They admitted ownership of the ivories and acknowledged committing the offence. Jova confessed that the co-offender Ibrahim was his friend and the ivories were destined for Nigeria. It was based on that they were forwarded together with the ivories as exhibits before the state attorney of the Court of First Instance Yokadouma for prosecution.
