Abstract

The accused MEYONG DJOUMA Albert was found in Mintom by agents of the conservation service in possession of a panther skin without a certificate of origin. During interrogations, the accused strongly refuted this allegation and contended that it was untrue. The accused requested for an audience to confront the agent of the conservation service representing the state in the matter, ONDO ONDO Benjamin, chief of the forestry post of MBOUMA. The agent explained convincingly that on the 25 November 2003, the accused approached him in his home around 6 a.m. to inform him that his agents had just seized a panther skin in his vehicle and implored his indulgence. After the accused had left, his agents arrived around 7am to report to him of the seizure specifically notifying that while they were still checking his identification the accused fled with his vehicle, leaving his national identity card in their hands. And since then they have not set eyes on him. It was noted that the attitude shown by the accused is a manifestation of notorious bad faith and proof that his statements are nothing but bluffs. His guilt highlighted by this attitude and moreover corroborated by the statements of the chief of forestry post of MBOUMA. At the close of interrogations, he was transmitted before the State Attorney for prosecution.
