Abstract

The accused Ndoum Willy acquired an AK47 war gun and ammunitions from a certain Mboko Alfred with the intention of poaching elephants. In order to do this, he requested help from the co-offender Namoudou Jean Pierre with whom they killed an Elephant in the reserve of Faro-Lobeke and proceeded to sell the ivories. After carrying out this activity, Ndoum gave the AK47 to Mindoum Achille who hid the gun. Elements of the conservation serivce of the Lobeke National Park carried out investigations which led to the arrest of Ndoum Willy and Mamoudou Jean who had no Identity card at the time of arrest. During interrogations, Ndoum Willy confessed that his older brother resident in Congo gave him the AK47 to poach. He recruited 05 pygmees to carry out the Elephant hunting to which they killed 01 elephants and took out its ivories weighing 4kg and 40gms. Upon leaving the forest, he sold the ivories and paid off the poachers who accompanied him. This transaction was denounced and the divisional delegation of forestry and wildlife carried out further investigations leading to the arrest of Mamoudou.
