The accused persons all acting in concertation, entered the Campo Ma’an national park in Oveng for a hunting party. There, they were arrested by forestry and wildlife agents in possession of carcasses of protected animal species, including two black Bay duikers, a blue Bay duiker, a porcupine and a mustac. At the same time without legally required authorization, ASSOUMOU MVE Romain and EDJANG ASSOUM Thomas were found in possession of a machete while MENGUE MINTSA Gaspard illegally possessed a hunting gun and seven ammunitions. ASSOUMOU declared that he resides near the park and like the two other accused persons, he is threatened by the animals of the park which destroy his crops. That he complained without solution thus he laid the traps that caught two porcupines and two hares. During interrogations, they acknowledged committing the offence as charged and pleaded guilty . At the close of interrogations, they were transmitted before the State Attorney for prosecution.

ASSOUMOU MVE Romain, EDJANG ASSOUM Thomas de la joie and MENGUE MINTSA Gaspard were found guilty of illegal possession of carcasses of protected animal species. MENGUE MINTSA Gaspard was found guilty of illegal possession of a hunting gun.
ASSOUMOU MVE Romain was sentenced to four (04) months suspended imprisonment term, MENGUE MINTSA Gaspard was sentenced to six (06) months suspended imprisonment term, EDJANG ASSOUM was sentenced to six (06) months suspended imprisonment term all within three (03) years, and to all pay 30.750 XAF for costs.
