On the 4 December 2016, the conservation service of the Lobeke National Park and the gendarmerie of Moloundou organized an anti-poaching patrol. During the patrol, the accused, persons NGUOINGUE Marcel and OUME Jean were arrested, with a hunting gun and ammunitions, 04 smoked Blue duikers, 6 bush pig legs and 4 fully smoked Mantled Guerezas. During interrogation, the accused NGUOINGUE Marcel acknowledged committing the offence. They were charged with the illegal killing of protected animal species and illegal detention of a hunting arm & ammunitions. Based on this, they was transmitted before the Court of First Instance Yokadouma together with the seized items as exhibits for prosecution.

Ngouingue Marcel was found guilty of illegal killing of protected animal species, hunting without license or permit, and the illegal detention of a hunting gun and ammunitions. Oume Jean was found guilty of complicity. Ngouingue and Oume were sentenced to one (1) year and six (6) months fixed term imprisonment respectively, Ngouingue Marcel to pay 100.000 XAF as fines, and to both pay 330.000 XAF as civil damages to the state of Cameroon represented by the Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife.
