The appellant Ahmad Mshamu was on 13/06/2002 convicted by Newala District Court on a charge of four counts. Among them, two were on unlawful possession of fire arms and other two counts were on unlawful possession of government trophies contrary to the law. He appealed the decision.
On 24th February 2013 at Amboseli Villaage within Simanjiro District in Manyara Region, the accused was found in unlawful possession of one carcass of lesser kudu, the property of the Tanzania government.
The accused were charged and convicted of contravening section 15 (1) of the Fauna Conservation Act. The first appellant killed three kudus whereas his licence only permitted him to hunt for two springboks.
